Your Wedding Photo Timeline

Here’s a look at a typical wedding photo time line from our point of view. We are here to help assist you in planning out your day so that you don’t miss a beat.

2 HOURS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

I arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to my scheduled time at the preparation site to capture the details, such as the dress, shoes, jewelry, and any other accessories. After the details are photographed, I photograph the story of you getting ready, focusing on the emotion, interaction, and moments between the you, your family, and bridesmaids. The second photographer arrives at the groom’s preparation site, where she will have the same approach as I do in capturing the details and moments of the preparation.

1.5 HOURS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

If the couple prefers not to see each other, we photograph the bride with her bridesmaids, and her immediate family. We ensure that this is well coordinated, so the bride and groom do not see each other if they choose not to. Then we will photograph the groom with his groomsmen and his immediate family.

If you choose to have a “first look,” we arrange for this and then photograph the group formal portraits.

30 MINUTES BEFORE THE CEREMONY

We stop taking portraits to allow everyone to freshen up, collect their things, and make it to the ceremony site on time.

If you are going to the ceremony site, I prefer to ride with you and your family to capture the moments of anticipation and excitement. If possible, the second photographer will also ride with the groom and his groomsmen to the ceremony site.
d20 MINUTES BEFORE THE CEREMONY

At this time, you should have a quick refreshment and take 15 minutes of quiet time;  you’ll want to regroup before all the excitement begins!
dIMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CEREMONY

If there are any additional formal photographs desired, we will take this time to finish them in plenty of time for the reception. We prefer to limit the group portrait time to no more than 30 minutes, and then we want to spend 15 minutes with just you and your spouse.

My second photographer will arrive at the reception site to photograph the cake and flower decor of the reception site. She will begin photographing candid shots of arriving guests and continue into cocktail reception.

1 HOUR AFTER THE CEREMONY

At this time we strictly document the reception candidly as it unfolds, including the first dances, toasts, dancing, and cake cutting. We are always available for any photo request you may have throughout the evening, including party pics.
d15 MINUTES AFTER YOUR DEPARTURE

We pack up our bags, and reminisce about our favorite moments we captured throughout your wedding, and talk about how we cannot wait to share the images with you. We immediately back-up our photos when we arrive home.
