“It snow on own wedding day.”
This is probably the story that Erica and Liam will start to tell when they talk about their wedding day. More accurately, the night before, it iced all over Austin. In true Austin fashion, the city froze up, literally and figuratively, and everything came to a halt. (I remember dumping all of the salt and baking powder available in our house in our driveway, for fear of getting my little Prius stuck in the driveway.)
By mid-morning, all the ice was melted away, but a soft layer of snow was left on the ground. The wedding day was beautiful.
Erica and Liam might talk about the weather first, but I will probably forget about the snow years down the road. I will remember how excited and nervous Erica was just before Liam saw her during the first look. Her bridesmaid calmed her nerves, and I took a photo as she was telling her to take a deep breath. This is one of my favorite photos of the day.
I will remember the sweet note that Erica gave to her parents and Liam’s parents. It was such a thoughtful, loving gesture, and something I hadn’t seen done before. Erica even asked for a moment alone, just with Liam’s parents, before the ceremony started. That really touched me — how Erica made her future in-laws know how important they are to her.
I met Erica and Liam through Janelle and Marcus, and it was fun to see Janelle and Marcus dance the night away a few months before their wedding.
