Villa St. Clair Weddings: Wedding Planning Tips & Advice

Austin TX, Debra Gulbas Photographyd

Villa St. Clair is a full-service facility with a European-style garden, an elegant ballroom, and 6 acres of towering oaks. Kim Sinclair, the General Manager of Villa St. Clair, recently offered her advice and tips for brides and grooms.

What’s one important piece of advice you would like to give to brides?

With your fiancé, make a list of the most important things for your wedding celebration.

What’s one important question brides should ask before booking a wedding venue?

Will our wedding be the only event at your venue on our wedding day?

What are some things couples can do to guarantee a great celebration with their friends and family?

Stay true to yourselves.  Make your wedding celebration a reflection of the two of you.

What common mistakes do brides make that you would advise other brides not to do?

Most brides get stressed by all the “details”.  A month after your wedding, none of your guests will remember what your favors were or whether or not you had chair covers.  Make a realistic budget and stick with it.

Sometimes brides are misinformed about certain ideas about the wedding world. What’s one thing you would like to clarify for brides?

You can have a uniquely beautiful and awesomely fun wedding celebration on any budget.  Determine what is the most important to you and your fiancé, and plan your budget based on these priorities.  Do not go into debt for a wedding!

There are so many resources for brides! Which websites and/or blogs do you think are most helpful for brides and why?

I adore TheKnot.com.  It has the most fabulous accumulation of current trends, wedding color photos, budgetary helps, reviews of local vendors & photos of recent weddings.  As a visual person, I really appreciate the plethora of photos that TheKnot.com features.

What is your favorite wedding magazine and why?

I really have 2 favorites, The Knot Texas and Austin Wedding Day.  Both of these magazines are amazing sources for the latest design trends as well as helpful budgeting sources.

If you were to tell a bride to “follow” three people on Twitter to help with their wedding planning, who would you recommend?

I really prefer Blogs to Twitter.  My favorites are (in no particular order):

1) Blog.weddingwire.com– full of the new & fresh ideas.

2) wedding.theknot.com/wedding-blog.aspx– the most up-to-date wedding trends

3) villastclair.com/weddings– Our blog features recent weddings which featured innovative floral, food & entertainment.
