How did you get into weddings?
My passion for photography started when I was a little girl, and continued to flourish throughout my primary years. I went on to the Missouri School of Journalism, and earned my bachelors in journalism with the emphasis in photojournalism. Four days after graduating college, I started working as a staff photographer for the El Paso Times. After photographing a bridal show for the newspaper, a bride called me asking me to photograph her wedding. I started photographing weddings full-time in 2009.
How many photographers will be at our wedding?
Every wedding includes at least two photographers, with Debra as your primary photographer. Debra has a fantastic second photographer, Julia, with whom she’s worked with for the past five years. The second photographer typically photographs the groom getting ready, the majority of the details, and other angles and perspectives throughout the day. Depending on the locations of the ceremony and reception, and the number of guests, we will bring in other photographers. These photographers are chosen from a short list of people with whom we’ve worked with often.
Do you process every image?
Absolutely. Each photo is processed, color-corrected, and lightly retouched as needed. Each wedding collection also includes special retouching for a select number of images.
Will we receive the disc of images?
We deliver your edited, high-resolution photos on a crystal thumb drive, along with the printing release. However, what our clients value most are our exquisite heirloom albums, which are included in each wedding collection. What we hear over and over from them is that it’s an album they truly cherish, and they look at it with friends and family every time someone comes to their home. The album allows them to experience all of the beauty of their wedding day again and again. The thumb drive is used more as an archiving tool, whereas the album becomes a family heirloom.
Do you photograph details and family group photos?
Yes! We know how valuable those photos are to you. Your wedding photography collection would not be complete without capturing stunning details and classic, formal photos of your family. It’s important to us that they are professional and efficient: every bouquet is lined up right, the jackets are buttoned properly, and that everyone is looking their best. We will send you an online list of formal groups, you select which ones you want, and make any additions.
Can you recreate the images on my Pinterest board?
Pinterest is an amazing tool for getting ideas and planning your wedding details. When it comes to wedding moments, it is best not create or force a moment, because it won’t look or feel authentic. Instead, we’d prefer that you are 100% yourself, and we will photograph the sweet, beautiful moments as they naturally unfold. Also, we’d rather create images that you would want other brides and grooms to pin on Pinterest.
Do you have backup equipment?
Absolutely! We have at least two cameras on hand at all times, along with a wide variety of lenses and lighting gear.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Nikon D3 and Nikon D700 cameras, and I have a variety of prime lenses and gadgets and gizmos galore.
Are you insured?
Yes. Some venues request us to add them as an additional insurer, and we are happy to do this upon their request.
How do we hire you?
After we have talked about your wedding, we’ll send you an online proposal, where you can select the wedding collection, sign your contract, and pay the retainer.
